May 3rd, 2017
We are very pleased and excited to be collaborating with the Nova Scotian Institute of Science and Dalhousie University School for Resource and Environmental Studies to hold the first conference on the Science and History of Sable Island.
On December 1, 2013 Sable Island National Park Reserve became officially protected under Canada’s National Parks Act as its 43rd National Park. Parks Canada has assumed full administrative control of the island and has recently compiled an ecological and biodiversity assessment as part of the foundation for producing the legally-required park management plan.
Who Should Attend:
Scientists, those who have other special knowledge and/or experience of Sable Island, and the general public
Friday May 1st from 7-10pm
Saturday May 2nd from 8am-6pm
Alumni Hall, University of King’s College, 6350 Coburg Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Presenters were selected through a Call for Abstracts in late 2014 for which we received an impressive range and quantity of proposals. Oral presentations will be 20 minutes in length – 15 minutes for a prepared talk and 5 minutes for questions. Poster presentations will be available throughout Saturday May 2. Various friends of Sable Island will display items for sale such as books, art work, and memberships. For more information on the presentations click -here-.
