Ryan Macneil is an active advocate for environmental stewardship and a passionate supporter of the Friends of Sable Island Society. Raised on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, Ryan grew up with the terms “Cape Sable Island” and “Sable Island” used interchangeably, believing that Sable Island was connected to the mainland by a causeway. His discovery of the real Sable Island while working as a Fisheries Observer sparked a deep interest in the island’s history, wild horses, and shipwrecks. This fascination led him to his role as Director of Membership and Event Coordinator for the Friends of Sable Island Society. With a background in marketing, research, and community engagement, Ryan brings a wealth of experience to the board, ensuring the island’s unique story is shared with a broader audience.
