Calling all bird lovers! The Annual Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is the longest running wildlife survey in the world. Every year, birdwatching enthusiasts of all levels, photographers, and anyone looking to enjoy a winter walk or drive, get outside and explore their love for nature, while contributing to one of the world’s most important wildlife censuses. Data gathered from the CBC is entered in an international databank and become a part of the community based science program that is used to monitor and track birds throughout the continent. For the last several years, Parks Canada team members have scoured the shores and dunes of Sable Island NPR and counted every bird they see in support of the CBC. The Island’s remoteness usually produces some interesting and unexpected results!
